Custom art inflatables bring large-scale creativity into physical spaces through sculptural form, movement and visual storytelling. Designed for events, stages and immersive environments, these one-of-a-kind, hand-painted installations allow creative teams to think beyond rigid materials and traditional scenic limits.
Unlike standard inflatables, our bespoke inflatables at Air Artists are developed entirely around a specific brief. Each piece is artist led, technically engineered and finished by hand, with expert manufacture ensuring the highest quality and attention to detail throughout the entire process. This guarantees the final installation feels intentional, expressive and visually striking rather than generic.
Created for productions where originality matters, custom art inflatables become centrepieces that shape how audiences experience a space. Whether integrated into a touring show, exhibition or live environment, they contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative rather than acting as decoration alone.
For live performances and touring shows, art inflatables deliver scale and visual drama without the weight and rigidity of traditional scenic builds. Bespoke inflatables are suitable for both indoor and outdoor events, including concerts, fairs, and other events where visual impact is essential. They can be installed quickly, deflated between shows and transported efficiently, making them ideal for demanding tour schedules. Their impact is often enhanced when paired with bespoke stage props to create immersive stage environments that evolve throughout a performance.
In exhibitions and immersive installations, custom inflatables act as sculptural focal points that guide audience movement and engagement. Hand-painted custom inflatables add depth and texture that reward close up viewing, while their scale ensures strong presence within large spaces. Each piece is designed to integrate naturally with lighting, sound and spatial design.
Custom art inflatables are frequently used in branded environments to create immediate visual recognition. As powerful advertising tools, custom inflatables elevate brand awareness and campaign impact at events, trade shows, and experiential marketing activations.
Bespoke inflatable design allows brands to translate ideas into three dimensional forms that feel expressive rather than overtly promotional. This includes creating inflatable replicas of products or mascots to attract attention and enhance branding. Bespoke inflatables can also be used to highlight specific models, such as car models, at branded activations, drawing in potential customers and increasing event visibility.
For public spaces and large scale displays, custom art inflatables offer an effective way to introduce temporary or semi permanent artworks without invasive construction. Their lightweight nature allows installation in locations where traditional structures may not be viable. Many projects in this category are developed as custom painted inflatable sculptures, combining artistic detail with structural reliability.
At Air Artists we have been shaping the evolution of inflatable art for decades. Our history is rooted in experimentation, problem solving and creative ambition, long before inflatable installations became mainstream within live production. Â
Over the years, our hand painted inflatables have played roles in landmark cultural moments, redefining how inflatables are perceived within performance and entertainment. This legacy informs every new project, ensuring that modern installations benefit from decades of accumulated expertise.Â
Feature pieces represent the most visually ambitious use of art inflatables. These installations are designed to anchor an environment and become the defining visual element within a space. Each feature piece is developed in Essex, England by our experts at Air Artists, through the combination of sculptural form with detailed surface work. Hand painting allows artists to introduce depth, texture and realism, giving each inflatable the presence of a physical artwork rather than a manufactured object.

Art inflatables that you customise yourself offer a rare balance between creative freedom and logistical efficiency. Their lightweight construction reduces transport demands while still delivering large scale impact comparable to traditional scenic builds.
Bespoke inflatables also support more sustainable production planning. Designed for reuse, they can be deployed across multiple events or adapted for future projects, reducing waste associated with single use structures.
From a creative perspective, our hand-painted custom inflatables ensure originality. Each piece is finished by artists rather than printers, resulting in installations that feel distinctive and crafted rather than templated.
Custom art inflatables are created for teams seeking installations that feel intentional, expressive and technically sound. From early concept development through to final installation, every project is shaped around creative vision and practical delivery. Our team is committed to clear and responsive communication at every stage, ensuring your bespoke inflatables project runs smoothly and meets your expectations.
For event organisers, stage designers and creative directors, bespoke inflatables provide the freedom to create memorable environments without unnecessary complexity behind the scenes. Enquiries are welcomed to explore how our custom inflatables can bring your ambitious ideas to life.
Air Artists was born in 1976 by Rob Harries in a unique time where very few people knew much about inflatables.Â
At Air Artists, we specialise in creating bespoke inflatables that transform live performances into unforgettable experiences. For the Scissor Sisters’ inflatable, created as part of their reunion and summer tour, our team designed something bold, playful and impossible to miss: a giant pair of iridescent inflatable scissors that dominated the stage.
When YUNGBLUD appeared at BLUDFEST, his presence extended far beyond the music. A towering inflatable character stood beside the stage, eyes wide, hair ablaze, wrapped in stylised flames and flanked by a skeletal figure. Hand-painted and impossible to ignore, it did more than decorate the space. It helped define the show’s atmosphere before a single note played.
This is how modern inflatables are redefining concert tour stage design. Lightweight, expressive and instantly iconic, they offer touring artists, creative directors and production teams an agile tool for building visual identity and emotional tone. For this project, Air Artists was tasked with creating a one-of-a-kind centrepiece that captured YUNGBLUD’s world in physical form.
When Netflix approached Air Artists to create a striking centrepiece for the launch of Squid Game Series 3, the result was a one-off installation that turned heads across Newcastle’s Quayside. Rather than producing repeatable designs, each inflatable was crafted as a bespoke artwork, made once for a single client and event.
Air Artists, renowned for their transformative approach to inflatable art, recently unveiled a striking 5-metre inflatable Samurai. What sets this piece apart from typical inflatable creations is its meticulous attention to detail, particularly the face—so realistic it challenges viewers to question whether it is, indeed, an inflatable. This masterpiece is part of Air Artists’ broader vision: to push the boundaries of inflatable art, creating sculptures so lifelike they appear to transcend their medium. The inflatable Samurai will be showcased as part of stage set designs for concerts, theatres, festivals, and more, highlighting the incredible versatility of inflatable art.
Inflatable hand-painted giant art is revolutionizing the way live performances, including concerts and theatre shows, approach set design. This innovative medium not only adds a visually striking element to productions but also offers practical benefits such as fast setup times, portability, and flexibility. This case study will explore the growing use of inflatable art in theatres and concerts, showcasing examples like the giant beanstalk in Jack and the Beanstalk and other notable inflatable works by Air Artists.

Bespoke inflatable design includes concept development, technical planning and artistic finishing. This process ensures each inflatable meets creative expectations while remaining structurally sound and suitable for repeated use.
Our hand-painted custom inflatables allow artists to add texture, shading and depth that printed finishes cannot replicate. This creates installations with the presence and character of sculptural artworks.
Custom inflatables are well suited to touring because they deflate for compact transport and install quickly on site. Their consistency ensures visual continuity across multiple venues.
These inflatables are engineered for repeated use. Materials and construction methods are selected to maintain visual quality while withstanding installation, transport and varied environments.
