Working with event organisers, stage designers and creative directors, Air Artists produces inflatable installations that sit at the forefront of visual storytelling. Every piece is a realistic inflatable sculpture, designed to look and feel like a true physical prop or artwork, only with the versatility and scale that inflatable engineering makes possible.Â
At Air Artists we have been shaping the evolution of inflatable art for decades. Our history is rooted in experimentation, problem solving and creative ambition, long before inflatable installations became mainstream within live production. We have spent generations perfecting how inflatable art can look more realistic, more dramatic and more visually powerful, while still performing reliably in the real world.
Over the years, our hand painted inflatables have played roles in landmark cultural moments, redefining how inflatables are perceived within performance and entertainment. This legacy informs every new project, ensuring that modern installations benefit from decades of accumulated expertise. It is why our inflatables do not feel like props, they feel like icons.
Based in Essex, England, our portfolio spans music, theatre, circus, television, live brand experiences, and more, with every inflatable tailored to the creative brief rather than adapted from existing designs. Every piece is built from scratch, shaped for realism, and hand-painted with the care of a studio artwork, meaning no two creations are ever the same. Clients have shared positive experiences with our creative inflatables , praising the smooth ordering process, design flexibility, and the high quality of the finished products.
At Air Artists, we have collaborated with many artists to create unique installations such as bespoke stage props, demonstrating our experience and credibility in the field. No matter the client or event, our premium, hand-painted inflatables are versatile and suitable for any purpose or sector. These are not generic inflatables, but artist-led, hand-painted works of art made three-dimensional, built to command attention the moment they appear at music concerts and festivals, theatre productions, broadcast projects and live experiences.Â
If you want impact that feels immersive, cinematic and unforgettable, our hand painted inflatable sculptures turn creative concepts into reality at full scale.

With Air Artists, inflatable artwork is elevated beyond decoration. What sets our work apart is realism. These are inflatable sculptures designed with lifelike form, bold presence and hand painted detail that bring characters, creatures, objects and concepts to life. Our bespoke inflatable artwork including inflatable animals, is crafted by artists who understand scale, proportion and visual storytelling. Inflatable artwork is cost-effective and eco-friendly compared to traditional materials, making it a smart choice for sustainable event planning. This allows creative teams to achieve ambitious concepts while maintaining practical control over logistics, installation and budget.Â

Air Artists was born in 1976 by Rob Harries in a unique time where very few people knew much about inflatables.Â
At Air Artists, we specialise in creating bespoke inflatables that transform live performances into unforgettable experiences. For the Scissor Sisters’ inflatable, created as part of their reunion and summer tour, our team designed something bold, playful and impossible to miss: a giant pair of iridescent inflatable scissors that dominated the stage.
When YUNGBLUD appeared at BLUDFEST, his presence extended far beyond the music. A towering inflatable character stood beside the stage, eyes wide, hair ablaze, wrapped in stylised flames and flanked by a skeletal figure. Hand-painted and impossible to ignore, it did more than decorate the space. It helped define the show’s atmosphere before a single note played.
This is how modern inflatables are redefining concert tour stage design. Lightweight, expressive and instantly iconic, they offer touring artists, creative directors and production teams an agile tool for building visual identity and emotional tone. For this project, Air Artists was tasked with creating a one-of-a-kind centrepiece that captured YUNGBLUD’s world in physical form.
When Netflix approached Air Artists to create a striking centrepiece for the launch of Squid Game Series 3, the result was a one-off installation that turned heads across Newcastle’s Quayside. Rather than producing repeatable designs, each inflatable was crafted as a bespoke artwork, made once for a single client and event.
Air Artists, renowned for their transformative approach to inflatable art, recently unveiled a striking 5-metre inflatable Samurai. What sets this piece apart from typical inflatable creations is its meticulous attention to detail, particularly the face—so realistic it challenges viewers to question whether it is, indeed, an inflatable. This masterpiece is part of Air Artists’ broader vision: to push the boundaries of inflatable art, creating sculptures so lifelike they appear to transcend their medium. The inflatable Samurai will be showcased as part of stage set designs for concerts, theatres, festivals, and more, highlighting the incredible versatility of inflatable art.
Inflatable hand-painted giant art is revolutionizing the way live performances, including concerts and theatre shows, approach set design. This innovative medium not only adds a visually striking element to productions but also offers practical benefits such as fast setup times, portability, and flexibility. This case study will explore the growing use of inflatable art in theatres and concerts, showcasing examples like the giant beanstalk in Jack and the Beanstalk and other notable inflatable works by Air Artists.
Air Artists is a pioneering company known for designing and producing some of the most iconic inflatable art pieces for the world’s largest theatres, concert stages, and musical tours. Founded in 1976 by Rob Harries, the company has been at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of inflatable artistry, creating show-stopping pieces that have become integral to some of the most memorable moments in entertainment history. Based in Essex, England, Air Artists has earned a reputation for its unparalleled creativity and engineering, producing inflatables for top-tier artists and global events.
Inflatable art allows large scale visual impact with minimal structural weight. Hand painted inflatables provide realism and artistic detail while remaining portable, efficient to install and suitable for touring productions and repeat performances. It gives you the stage impact of large scenic builds, with the flexibility of inflatable engineering.
Most bespoke inflatable artwork projects take four to six weeks from concept approval to completion. Timelines depend on complexity, scale and any additional technical features such as lighting or rigging requirements. We will always advise on the best timeline to protect the finish, detail and realism of the final sculpture.
When deflated, even very large inflatables can fit into standard flight cases or road cases, often replacing multiple trucks required for traditional stage scenery.
Premium custom inflatables are designed for reuse. Many clients deploy the same installation across multiple events, benefiting from consistent visual impact and reduced production costs over time. It is a high-impact asset that keeps delivering value with every appearance.
